 AGi32 v2.1 Migration Notes
We are pleased to announce the availability of the latest in a long legacy of AGi32 products. This release builds upon the success of version 2.0 with some heavy hitting features such as completely new import engine using Autodesk® RealDWG technology and revised roadway calculations supporting all popular international standards. Big ticket items aside, there are so many improvements that we have started calling this the “jumbo” release! But unlike other things jumbo (jets, elephants, burgers…) it is agile and smooth as it is all wrapped in the familiar interface known to version 2.0 series users. It is also, of course, Windows 7 (and Vista) compliant so it can be run by even “standard” users (if there is such a thing). Take a few minutes and download a Trial version. The new Trial is functionally identical to the standard product. The Trial period is simply limited to 30 days or 15 startups, which ever comes first.
In concert with the release of AGi32 2.1 is the debut of several exciting new licensing options. It is now free and easy to share your installation key with a second machine. This might be your laptop or the gal next-cube. Or, if you want to share one or more licenses with several other machines, belonging to anyone, anywhere (your nephew in Patagonia?), you can purchase a product called Advanced Sharing that allows license keys to be shared across the Internet. Coming back to Earth, perhaps you have an intern that will need a license for the summer? Purchase a 90-day Term license! Or, maybe it is simply a pressing job where you need additional muscle for only a month. The answer is a 30-day Term license! Finally, we have unbundled the server side software from the network license, allowing anyone to purchase it separately and create a networked AGi32 environment from existing licenses or as few as one new license. Learn more on our Licensing and Advanced Sharing pages.
AGi32 2.1 utilizes Autodesk’s RealDWG™ technology to read and write DWG and DXF format files. This is a dramatic improvement over the previous technology from the Open Design Alliance and allows all 3D entity types to be imported. Overall import integrity has improved tremendously.
We have incorporated new Coplanar Merging technology on the front end of the import process to greatly simplify three dimensional surface importing. This amazing process can combine triangles into polygons and reduce surface count drastically, thereby speeding up computation time and improving rendering quality.

After coplanar merging the entire desktop is one surface. Notice the pedestal is also merged so two triangles make one quadrilateral. |
Coupled with the new RealDWG™ tools, we have revised the CAD Viewer in the import dialog to have the same navigation as AGi32’s Render mode. This allows closer inspection of all model aspects. And we did not stop there: the Surface Edit, Automatic Placement Calculation Points and Object Library viewers all have the same technology! |
